Internet Marketing for Law Firms
Most people don't think of attorneys as small business owners, but that is precisely what a lawyer is if they own or are partners in their own practice. Unfortunately, marketing is not a course they teach at Law School, and most lawyers don't know where to start when they decide to grow their practice.
Traditionally, law firms only had two ways to spread the word of their practice.
1) Referalls: People often turn to those they know and trust for advice when they need to find an attorney. But as an attorney, it's difficult to rely on clients to accurately convey the strengths of your practice. Additionally, your firm will often be one of several recommended during the referral process.
2) Yellow Pages, Newspapers, & Television/Radio Advertising: These traditional forms of advertising cast a much broader net than referrals and certainly allow the attorney to convey their own message, but they lack focus. Most people who come in contact with your ad, whether on the radio or in print, have no interest in an attorney. With these advertising methods being as expensive as they are, simply getting branding for your firm is an expensive proposition. If they can't deliver clients on a consistent basis, they just aren't worth it.
More and more attorneys in Los Angeles,Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale and throughout California are turning to internet to market their practice. But just having a website isn't the same as MARKETING a website.
